Three practices have won an ideas competition to recreate the architecture faculty at the Delft University of Technology, 10 months after it was devastated by fire.

Dutch practices Laura Alvarez Architecture (pictured above) and Gijs Raggers and French practice Marc Bringer Architecture triumphed over more than 450 entries from 50 countries in the competition, launched during last year's Biennale in Venice.

The Building for Bouwkunde competition was run as a pre-cursor to a formal competition to design the new faculty, and was created to stimulate ideas from architects, urban planers and students on architecture, urban planning, civil engineering or industrial design degree courses.

The three practices each won E15,000 (£13,800), which they received at a ceremony on Thursday at the Netherlands Architecture Institute in Rotterdam.

In its report, the jury, chaired by the Netherlands’ chief government architect, Liesbeth van der Pol, said: "The jury unanimously states the three projects are of a remarkably high quality and deserving of being awarded the highest possible marks. They are well elaborated and provide architecturally challenging solutions."
