Architect Fay Jones Dies/ September 2, 2004 Courtesy University of Arkansas Architect E. Fay Jones, who won the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 1990, died on Monday, August 30 at his home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was 83. Jones, widely regarded as Arkansas’ finest architect, grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas and studied at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The architect apprenticed with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesen West before forming his own practice in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, where he worked for most of his career. ........Architectural Record magazine...............
